The Wellesley Gardeners' Guild, established in 1968, has contributed to the beautification of Wellesley through our many civic projects. Along the way, we have opened our homes, our gardens, and our hearts to each other.

Current Civic Projects of the Wellesley Gardeners' Guild:

  • Wellesley Hills and Post Office Square: Fund, plant, and maintain window boxes in the Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer.

  • Wellesley Free Library: Fund, plant and maintain large planters at the front, back and side entrances in the Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer.

  • Town Square Clock Garden and Fells Sitting Area: Provide funding to Town of Wellesley Park and Tree Division for seasonal plantings for the Town Square Clock Garden and for the Fells Sitting Area, located across the street from the Fells Market.

  • Museum of Fine Arts: “Art in Bloom” arrangement participant.

Past Projects:

  • Wellesley Education Foundation Spelling Bee: Supported several years of WGG member participation in event.

  • Warren School Triangle: Planted annuals in conjunction with the town horticulturist at the Warren and Washington Streets intersection.

  • Donated to Reidy Field. Donated to Wellesley High School and Wellesley Middle School.

Member of:

  • Garden Club Federation of Massachusetts

The WGG consists of up to 45 active members who are asked to do the following:

  • Pay annual dues of $75 for active members and $40 for sustaining members.

  • Chair or serve as an active member on one committee per year.

  • Participate in the annual fundraiser.

  • Water the post office window boxes at least one week per year.

  • Assist in two plantings per year.

After 5 years of service, active members may elect to assume a sustaining status, at which point annual dues are $30 and other requirements are waived.  However, many members enjoy the WGG so much, they choose to stay active well beyond those 5 years!
