History
The Sterling Garden Club was founded on 1 June 1934 by 13 women
invited to the home of Mabel Schenk to form what we know as the Sterling Garden Club.
A Note from our Current President, Paulette Heim:
I would like to start by thanking the past President, the Board and all Members...current and past.
No role is any less or more important than any other.
Having filled many of those roles in the past, it's my honor to serve as your President.
I sit here and think about what that means, one word that keeps coming to mind is change.
"We can't be afraid of change. You may feel very secure in the pond you are in,
but if you never venture out of it, you will never know that there is such a thing as an ocean, a sea."
My goal for the club is to move forward--bringing us into a new century where we can communicate and reach out to members, new and old, with the click of a button. The internet is spilling over with new and creative ideas. Ideas we can incorporate into plant and green sales. Ideas that generate money
so we can fund education of young green minds and beautify the Town of Sterling.
I think of members yet to be and ones we've lost; it would give me great joy to see some old faces
as well as new ones. We need to grow. The only way we can grow is if we
embrace change--by learning. Let's learn from our past mistakes and maybe make some new ones.
It is my hope we will become the kind of club that everyone wants to be part of!
So, let's do it! Be inspiration, be exceptional and have a hell of a time doing it!
