Announcements & News


Scituate Garden Club has annual and bi-annual club awards honoring esteemed members and past presidents: Barbara Crosbie Sweepstakes Award, Winifred Calkins Morse Memorial Award, Anne Dietz Memorial Award, Patricia Chase Michaud Club Award and the Doris Hastie Challenge Award.  It also has a New Exhibitors Award that may be offered to a first time exhibitor in a Scituate Garden Club Flower Show.

Patricia Chase Michaud Award - In 2005, Scituate Garden Club presented an award to the State Federation in honor of past president Patricia Michaud. The criteria for applying for this award is "an outstanding program or group of programs, given by a member or members of a garden club to its membership or to neighboring clubs.  A certificate of merit accompanies a large antique bud vase which is kept by the club for one year.

Civic/Educational Projects

Boston Flower Show (serving on committees; judging; exhibiting), Conservation (recycling ink cartridges), Cudworth House (18th Century herb garden), Education (classroom presentation to 3rd graders & tour of the Mann Farmhouse Wildflower Garden; donations to schools), Garden Therapy (Senior Center workshops), Junior Gardeners (grades 4 & 5), Mann Farmhouse Wildflower Garden (since 1980 club members have maintained this native garden), Plant Sale (an annual event featuring member's plants), Post Office Window Boxes; Scituate Historical Society (floral arrangements for the Society's open houses).
