The Greater New Bedford Garden Club meets on the first Wednesday of the month at 1:00 p.m. at the Acushnet Council on Aging. At every meeting we conduct a business meeting followed by a program or hands-on workshop followed by refreshments organized by the hospitality committee.
This year we hope that all our meetings will be in person but if we feel the need, we can also do virtual meetings. Although we have lost some members during the past difficult year, we are still strong and growing in membership. In September we had our first meeting at the center. After the pause in the last year, it was wonderful to greet old friends and socialize. Our October meeting will be a hands-on workshop creating flower arrangements in coffee mugs to deliver to local nursing homes.

Membership Info
Our membership did lessen during this terrible year, but we are accepting new members.
New potential members can leave their information below on “Get in Touch”.

Christmas Meeting with Yankee Swap December 2021
Decorating Seaman's Bethel
At our first meeting in September the challenge was to create an arrangement in a metal container.

Members brought in samples from their gardens such as a single perennial flower, a branch from a tree or bush, and the largest zucchini. Members voted for the best specimen in each category

Hospitality did a great job for our enjoyment after the business meeting.

During the winter season, we also enjoy house plants.
This is an Apostle Plant. The flowers only last a day. They grow on fans of 12 leaves, hence the name. Other names are Apostle Iris, Poor Man’s Orchid and Walking Iris. It is in the iris family found in tropical and subtropical regions of the Americas.
In November we will have a houseplant swap.

We combined our June meeting and installation of officers with our first meeting in September in a member’s yard.

The beautification Committee decorated window boxes at the New Bedford Art Museum.

Members decorated Seaman’s Bethel for the holidays.
